A professional vocal group is going to be in Greene County tomorrow and providing a free concert that night.

The Des Moines Metro Opera, along with the Greene County School District Vocal Music Department are bringing Opera Iowa to Jefferson. There will be a morning performance for just grades second through fourth at the middle school auditorium, followed by a session with the high school choir students in the afternoon. 

High School Vocal Director Dave Heupel says members of Opera Iowa will conduct a clinic with the concert choir to fine tune the ensemble before the state contest happens next month. 

The free evening performance will be Beauty and the Beast at 7:30pm in the high school auditorium. Heupel adds knowing the talent of Opera Iowa and having them in Jefferson a few years ago, when he and Brenda Roberts were approached by Tom Yepsen for this opportunity, they didn’t hesitate to bring them back.
