The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards approved their proposed tax rates at their April meeting.
AC/GC Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the topic was brought up later in the year than usual, as the districts had to wait for the legislature to set the State Supplemental Aid (SSA) rate. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what those tax rates are.
“At AC, their FY 24, or last year’s tax rate was $9.71. That will go to $10.17, so $10.17 per $1,000 taxable valuation. And Guthrie Center went from $10.88 to $12.84. So both Boards approved those rates. Those will come down as we get our SSA entered for this last legislative session at 2.5 percent. Those are the high marks for our tax rate, they will come down a little bit.”
Rasmussen mentions that the Boards also set hearings for an amendment to the current year’s budget, as there were some extra expenditures that were underestimated. The hearing for the AC district will be on May 13th at 7pm, and for the GC district it will be on May 14th at 7pm.
