2023 Toddler Fest
A popular event is happening this Saturday at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
The Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors are hosting the 17th Annual Toddler Fest. Jefferson Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says there will be several stations for children ages two to five and their families to enjoy inside the community center from 10am-noon on Saturday. A special guest with Curious George will also be there, along with free books, prizes and entertainment.
Mount talks about the importance of having Toddler Fest and what it means for younger kids to be involved.
“To have early literacy, to encourage early literacy, it starts with access. So to have this free program where everybody can meet up, everybody can walk in, and everyone is given the same resources to make sure that their children start succeeding, and that we help them have the tools to succeed at such an early age. I’m not a parent myself, but having to raise a child and making sure that you’re giving them the best that you can when there’s so many different options and so many different obstacles in your way, I think it is so invaluable to we’ve gotten so many people together, just with the singular goal of helping with as many kids get over those barriers as possible.”
Some of the stations include 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten station, Jefferson Kiwanis Club will also have a station with free books, along with the grocery store, a pizzeria, and a Wild West station with stick horses, among others. Plus, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be here broadcasting live.
