There was plenty of discussion regarding possibilities to connecting the Raccoon River Valley Trail and the High Trestle Trail at Perry’s City Council meeting on Monday.
One of the items on the agenda related to a resolution for the bike trail route within the City of Perry. City Administrator Sven Peterson talked about the plans to connect the RRV Trail to the HT Trail with having a designated route on Second Street through the city. Second Ward Jeremy Mahler expressed his disagreement saying that he would like the easiest route through the city requiring the least amount of turns as possible. After extensive discussion, At-Large Chuck Schott suggested to table discussion and the council agreed to resume conversation at the next meeting on May 6th.
City Administrator Peterson mentioned that the PerryNext committee, that’s a response team to Tyson Foods, is meeting weekly to work on next steps. Other items on the agenda that were approved include an award for the acquire snow removal equipment from Van Wall Equipment in the amount of $385,988.86, adopting the annual budget for fiscal year 2025, a pay application for the Wastewater Treatment Facility project to Woodruff Construction for $301,703.96, and a contract for $14,675 on the CDBG Upper Story Housing Conversion Grant project.
Additional items approved on the agenda are an addition to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department of Jennifer Berry, resolution readdressing a parcel for a property located on the corner of Lucinda and Ninth Street, and an application to the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps Service project.
