Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is in the midst of a celebratory week, and a Dallas County representative dives deeper into offering generosity to the Perry community.

April 15th-19th is ISU Extension Week to recognize all the work the organization does with a community. Dallas County Regional Director Ann Torbert illustrates that the organization is involved around the county while putting an emphasis on efforts in Perry. She says that ISU Extension & Outreach is celebrating with key partners by delivering items to show gratitude. Torbert underscores specific things the organization is doing with Perry.

“We just finished orientation over the weekend with our two Rising Star Iowa State University student interns, who will be in the community this summer. They will be working on looking at food security in Perry, educate folks on how to use SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Benefits and double up food bucks.”

Torbert adds that the organization is creating a variety of listening sessions for high school and college students living in Perry, as well as working closely with the City of Perry to best suit residents in the community.
