Several students from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Middle School are working on a project for NASA’s TechRise Challenge.
The six ADM students are apart of the Gifted and Talented Program, which involves participating in projects aligning with their strengths as a learner and their interests, according to Program Coordinator Jon Markus. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the students’ interests were in space science and engineering.
NASA partnered with a company called Future Engineers to gather students to build and design an experiment to be featured in a NASA High Altitude Balloon. Markus notes that ADM submitted the experiment and was selected from Future Engineers as one of 60 schools across the country. ADM is now working with Future Engineers on a weekly basis to build and test the experiment.
The six students working on the project include Lucas Seifert, Lukas Crannell, Arthur Chaplin, Drew Bjork, Finnegan Ryan, and Nile Hall. Markus explains that the students have until early May to complete the project, and then will be launched during the summer.
