A new organization in Perry is encouraging the public to donate historic items during an event today.
The Perry Historical Society is a newer organization and will be hosting a “Scan and Collect Day” event this afternoon at the Carnegie Library Museum. Organizer Larry Vodenik shares that residents can donate items that represent Perry’s history. He recommends that people think twice before throwing items away.
“What we don’t want people to do is throw things away. They’re getting into spring cleaning and they’re going through a cupboard and they think, ‘I don’t need this or whatever.’ If it’s anything that’s history, we want them to either let us copy it or they can donate it to us.”
The Scan and Collect Day begins at 1pm at the Carnegie Library. Items can be dropped off there or Vodenik says even leaving items with an employee of Hy-Vee is also an option. Any questions can be directed to the Carnegie Library at (515)-465-7713.
