The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved a building permit for 204 South 5th Street, set a public hearing for the fiscal year 2024-25 proposed budget for April 22nd, approved the first reading to adopt a setoff program provision section for Ordinance 2024-02 and a nuisance abatement sub-contractor.
Public Works Superintendent Darin Sloss shared that the tornado siren at the Guthrie County Courthouse was still having some issues and that his department continues to work with Guthrie County Quality Meats on wastewater sampling in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. He added that they also assisted with two funerals, and extended an offer of temporary summer employment to Payton Jacobe and Mike Fuller to help with mowing.
City Clerk Kris Arrasmith gave the City Hall report, sharing that the Guthrie County Community Foundation had given the City a grant for $10,000, which will go towards projects at Mitchell Park. She has also worked with the City Attorney for the sale of the lot on North 1st Street, and that they would be working on setting up City-wide garage sales for June.
