Conversation around Iowa’s revenue and expenses was a big topic at Tuesday’s Dallas County Supervisors meeting.
Supervisor Board Chair Brad Golightly recalled the special budget meeting that occurred last week with the public, relating to the state’s expenses. Finance Director Rob Tietz said that Dallas County currently has the lowest tax levy at $2.96 per $1,000 of property valuation and the fifth largest county in the state. Golightly mentioned that many individuals last week were concerned about the rates increasing and he stressed that the county needs to keep working as a team in order to communicate to the public.
Additionally, the board set a public hearing for April 23rd at 9:30am for the Waukee Sanitary Sewer Easement. They approved purchasing a Bobcat Skid Loader and a couple of motorgraders for the Secondary Roads Department, and a Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) letter of support for a Dallas County Farm for a 2024 Leopold Conservation Award. County Engineer Al Miller said that Secondary Roads is receiving $310,000 in funding to be used for the five year road construction project.
