A bill giving a retention bonus towards the Perry School District was signed Friday by Governor Kim Reynolds.

A press release states that House File 2653 will use management levy funds to pay for retention bonus payments by the Department of Education supporting the Perry Community School District. According to the bill, school districts can modify provisions for the levy, waive certain specific duties, responsibilities, and requirements for this current year. The bill also allows the district to use up to $700,000.

Reynolds says that the legislation will provide students, teachers, and staff an additional layer of support as the Perry community continues to heal from the January 4th shooting.
