The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Track & Field teams are a month into their meet schedule, and is hoping to get back one of their seniors next month.
ADM Senior Makayla Crannell was injured during the first meet of the 2024 season (Dickinson Relays) on March 5th, putting her out for an extensive amount of time. Head Coach Bart Mueller recently told Raccoon Valley Radio that the recovery process is going good and there’s a chance that she could return before the end of the year. Mueller is hopeful that Crannell can come back to the track next month.
“We’re just going to take it day by day but we’re probably talking at least May before she can come back and compete at all.”
Mueller emphasizes that Crannell is running a little bit for training but that she can’t be explosive with the knee. He confirms that she suffered a tear in her Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) but the medical staff notes that it is an injury that doesn’t require surgery. Mueller reiterates that the team is taking things slow to not jeopardize any further damage. Following graduation, Crannell will continuing her running career at the University of Northern Iowa.
