The second week of April will feature a rare solar eclipse and the Dallas County Conservation Board is celebrating with a viewing party on Monday.
The board is planning the watch party at Hanging Rock Park in Redfield from 12:30-3:30pm. Outreach Coordinator Sarah McKeever mentions that Dallas County is not in the path of totality for the eclipse but still says that the county will witness about 80% of it. McKeever hints at the time of which residents should see the eclipse.
“The closest to totality we will get will be around 2pm, so if you wanted to come around then, that would be ideal.”
McKeever comments that the conservation will be handing out a limited amount of special solar eclipse glasses to watch. The event is free and open to the public.
