There are two programs this week with the Jefferson Library Youth Services Department.
Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says on Thursday they will host a special program “Q & A with Drew Sorensen, The Telescope Guy” about the upcoming Great North American Solar Eclipse that is happening on April 8th. Mount says Sorensen is the resident astronomy expert and will talk about what an eclipse is and what can be seen during one, along with the safe methods to view a solar eclipse.
“You cannot look directly at a solar eclipse folks, this is your warning from me, your librarian. It will damage your retinas if you look at it for any prolonged, even slight amount of time. So it is very important that you’re wearing the proper eyewear or using some sort of pinhole perforation effect so you can look at its effects on the ground but not directly at it.”
The Thursday program is from 5-6pm at the library.
The other program is a rescheduled Heart of Cards Night from 6-8pm in the basement of the Sierra Community Theatre with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Mount says this program was rescheduled because she was sick the night of the event. It is for 4th-12th graders and registration is appreciated by clicking here.
