Greene County’s boys high school soccer team hosted Boone on Monday night in the second half of a girl/boy doubleheader at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The Rams had eight goals from senior Gesser Gutierrex en route to an 11-1 victory, which ended by the 10-goal margin with 24:39 left on the second half clock. Gutierres now has 14 goals in the Rams 2-0 start to the season. His eight goals vs. the Toreadors (0-1) are the most he’s scored in a single game in his career, which now includes 83 goals. The Rams led 8-1 at the half.

Senior Jack Hansen opened the scoring with his first goal of 2024 just 29 seconds into the contest. Senior Nathan Behne added a pair of goals, his second and third this season. The Rams had nine assists on the 11 goals with three by Behne, two from sophomore Fredy Aguilar, and one each from seniors Hansen, Gutierres, and Kolby Angell, and sophomore Edier Flores.

Senior Gabe Ebersole had four saves in goal. Head coach Carl Behne told Raccoon Valley Radio his team still has a lot to clean up, but he said the boys played well in slick conditions. “Communication was solid and back line was better talking to each other, and stepping into the ball.” Behne added he was very proud of the improvement.

The Rams play at Carroll Athletic Field on Thursday vs. the Carroll Tigers. Thursday’s weather forecast sounds much better than the 40 degrees, wet and windy conditions the teams played in last night.
