A small portion of a county road in Greene County will have work done on it soon.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says County Road P-46 is having an asphalt overlay applied to the road that is in conjunction with Dallas County. He explains the details of the project, starting with the Greene County side.

“It’s just two miles north of the Dallas County/Greene County line. So south of Rippey, four miles will be the start of it, and then it’ll be the two miles left in Greene County. They’re (Dallas County) coming from (Iowa) Highway 141, they come into Dawson, and then they skip over a section of the business district in Dawson. And then they are redoing the curves that pick up kind of right after the business district, there’s a church on the north side. Those curves that turn back to the east, and then a set of curves go back to the north, and then down across the river bridge and further into Greene County.”

The Greene County Board of Supervisors approved awarding the contract with the Iowa Department of Transportation for that project, with the Greene County portion close to $1.6 million of a $4.2 million estimated cost. The road would also be widened to 28 feet to match the Dallas County portion of the road.
