The filing period has ended for candidates looking to be elected for certain Dallas County offices in the June Primary Election.
In Dallas County, there are contested races as the Republican County Attorney seat is up for grabs with Ronald Carl Forsell going against Matt Schultz in the primary election, with the winner facing Democrat Meggan Guns in November. Also, another contested race for the State Representative District 28 in the June 4th Republican Primary as incumbent David Young will be challenged by Chad Brewbaker, with the winner battling Democrat Laura Snider in the November general election.
There are no contested races for the Board of Supervisors District Two with Republican Julia Helm running for the seat, Adam Infante running for reelection in the Republican Primary for county sheriff, and Summer Portzen representing the Republicans in the County Treasurer position.
Other positions that would be contested in the November general election, but not in the June Primary include County Auditor with Republican Todd Halbur and Democrat Robert Oller, and Republican Mark Hanson and Democrat Sarah Trone-Garriott for Senate District 14.
Dallas County Auditor Elections Clerk Megan Brittain tells Raccoon Valley Radio that current Dallas County Attorney Jeannine Ritchie is not running for election, as she originally agreed to serve the remainder of the term for Chuck Sinnard, back in 2022. However, Ritchie is set to finish serving the county for this year.
