The Adel City Council meeting was held this past Monday with a large sum of money to help street projects.

Adel Mayor Jim Peters tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there was discussion about the streets committee’s recommendations to put in five million dollars of the Human Resources Green Pavement Management Program’s Phase One projects. He says the council passed the motion four to one vote. The following item tied into that with the streets committee’s recommendation to begin the request for qualifications later on in the actuality it says request for qualifications and not quote) (RFQ) process for an engineering firm for the streets projects. According to Peters, the five million dollars was approved as he explains exactly how that will help.

“We’ll put together a request for qualifications saying we would like, basically an engineering firm to design and take bids and oversee construction of street improvements.”

Peters pinpoints that the five million dollars was identified in a HR Green Pavement Study that’s available at City Hall. Other items that were passed on the agenda include setting a public hearing for the adoption of the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget for April 9th at 6pm and sidewalk renovations between City Hall and the Adel Library from Concrete Impressions.
