With the first outdoor meet of the season in the books, AC/GC Chargers Head Boys Track and Field Coach Cody Matthewson is pleased with how things have started.
After the Chargers won the Griswold/Stanton COED Meet on the boys side, taking a look at the results shows why they were so far ahead. The team had seven first place finishes, seven second place finishes and two third place finishes, along with several other scoring placements. The team scored in every event they participated in, with first place finishes in four relay races, and taking the top two spots in the 800 Meter run and high jump. The shuttle hurdle team also set a school and personal record by finishing in 1 minute 2.81 seconds, beating their record from last season’s State Met. Matthewson says that many of the athletes are competing at levels similar to where they were at mid to late season last year, and he’s excited to see where they go from here.
