Greene County is scheduled to host Grand View Christian (Des Moines) at Linduska Field in Jefferson tomorrow night to begin the girls’ high school soccer season. Maribel Hernandez returns as the head coach and Wes Anderson is back as the assistant coach.
The Rams have one victory in each of the past two seasons, and the coach said getting more wins this season is high on her list of goals. “My expectations are winning more than one game. This year we do have an experienced team and we have three foreign exchange students who are such a great addition in students from Germany, Norway, and Africa.” She added experience is going to be a key.
The coach is hoping the foreign exchange students, plus the overall experience of the returning players will lead to more goals, and more wins. The Rams scored just six goals last season, three of those by Esther Van Horn, now a senior.
