One Jefferson area business was recently awarded two grants for two different projects.
Deal’s Orchard received $25,000 from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Choose Iowa Value-Added Grant to complete their transition of cider packaging to a new canning line, which will increase capacity and reach new markets. The Choose Iowa Value-Added Grants are a match of up to $25,000 to assist farmers, businesses and non-profit organizations to increase or diversify agricultural product offerings, expand markets and shorten supply chains. The total cost of the project is $52,805
Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says Deal’s Orchard has been finding a lot of success through their cider business.
“They’re really making a name for themselves. And if anybody listening has had any of the, whatever their dozen or whatever flavors they’re up to now, you know they’ve been really taking this seriously and growing that. So really cool to see that and they certainly bring a lot to the table for Jefferson and Greene County as a whole.”
Wetrich adds another grant Deal’s Orchard was the recipient of was their $1,000 Existing Business Growth Grant to help purchase a nut roaster.
