A Stuart Man who was arrested and charged on March 26, 2023 was sentenced.
David Reeves, 36 years old, entered a guilty plea to domestic abuse assault (third of subsequent offense), a Class D Felony, and the charge was amended by request of the State to assault on an older individual, which is a simple misdemeanor. Reeves was also sentenced on harassment in the first degree, which is an aggravated misdemeanor, and as part of the plea deal had four other charges dropped.
For the simple misdemeanor, Reeves was sentenced to tow days in jail, with credit for 30 days already served, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the aggravated misdemeanor with credit for 30 days already served. He was also made to pay a fine of $105 with a 15 percent surcharge, and a fine of $855 with a 15 percent surcharge. As part of the sentencing, Reeves was also made to pay court costs, submit a DNA sample and be fingerprinted. A no contact order that was filed during the trial time will stay in effect until August 18, 2028, five years after the sentencing of Reeves.
