An organization in Greene County is encouraging dog owners to attend a special Easter-themed event.
The People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Greene County is hosting its first-ever Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at the Community Animal Shelter and Rotary Centennial Dog Park. This fundraiser will take place on Saturday at 1pm with a $5 per dog fee. There will be treat-filled plastic eggs throughout each dog park and each canine will get a participation treat, along with a special prize for those dogs that find the “Golden Eggs.” PAWS President Ann Wenthold says those prizes are gift baskets that were donated by Fairview Veterinary Clinic and Companion Veterinary Clinic of Greene County.
Wenthold notes that they got this idea from Linn Price with Animal Protection Education Charity when it was done in Jefferson. All the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the care and treatment that PAWS provides to the animals at the shelter. Wenthold adds that PAWS wanted to do several smaller fundraisers throughout the year, because they know that animals need care and treatment all the time. This event will only be held without rain. If there is inclement weather, the Doggie Easter Egg Hunt will not be rescheduled.
