A Boone man was sentenced to probation for a drug-related incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, 48-year-old James Cunningham pled guilty to a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. He was to serve this sentence consecutively with another case where Cunningham pled guilty to a Class D Felony for introducing contraband into a correctional facility and was to serve three years of probation.
The felony charge for possessing marijuana stemmed from an incident on October 16th. While a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy was serving civil papers to a home in the 100 block of North Olive Street in Jefferson, the deputy noticed Cunningham, who had an arrest warrant in Webster County. As the warrant was being verified, Cunningham had a glass smoking pipe on him, which tested positive for marijuana.
Cunningham was also ordered to pay over $1,300 in fines and surcharges.
