Perry City Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh outlines plans the city has to bring in to help the impacted workers of the Tyson Pork Plant.

With the announcement of the Tyson Pork Plant closing in June, Mayor Cavanaugh explains that outside organizations are contributing to assist in whatever ways possible to make the transition easier. One of those organizations is Iowa Workforce Development, who Cavanaugh says will be in town to assist Tyson employees.

“To help people with all the resources they have available. They can help people with resumes, they know of places that have job openings, they can help people apply for jobs, help them go online and look for different things if they do not know how to do that on their own.”

Cavanaugh tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the city conducted a meeting last week with the Iowa and Perry Economic Development Authority that are actively receiving input from companies that are interested in a large facility requiring an equal size workforce.
