Greene County wrapped up the indoor portion of the high school track & field season on Saturday in Storm Lake at the Buena Vista University High School Elite Meet. The Rams had no first place finishes, but four events that placed second in the non-scoring meet. Coach Chad Morton’s boys had three runner-up finishes and Coach Derek Merk’s girls had one second place performance.
Junior Daniele Madson was second in the girls’ shot put with a best throw of 33 feet, 11 inches. Her farthest throw was on her first of four attempts.
Sophomore Broc Stream place second in the long jump for boys at 19′ 5-3/4″. Like Madsen, his first attempt was his first. The Rams were second in the 1,600 meter medley relay in 3:56.56 with Stream, senior Nathan Behne, sophomore Nick Madsen, and sophomore Drew Wolterman. The 4 x 800 meter relay also was second in 9:52.39 with juniors Gavyn Winters and Camden Jacobs, sophomore Isaac Karber, and freshman Brennan Jacobs.
The Rams will have practice on Monday, then start the outdoor campaign on Tuesday, March 19 in Indianola for the Simpson College High School Classic.
