Even with recent rains falling across Iowa in the last week, most areas have seen no improvement in drought conditions.
For the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, Dallas, Greene and Guthrie Counties are all facing the same severe drought conditions as they did in the previous week. Despite the continued dry conditions, two data points have seen an increase in the amount of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service. Jefferson normally sees 0.82 inches of rain in March, but has recorded 1.06 inches so far. Perry usually records 0.78 inches of precipitation for March, but reports 0.8 inches. Guthrie Center has seen less than they usually do by this point, reporting 0.6 inches of rain so far, and usually recording 0.74 inches of precipitation for the month of March.
