A Jefferson woman was recently sentenced to probation for possessing drugs.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Audrie Lawerence pled guilty to a Class D Felony for her third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine. She had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
The charge stemmed from an incident that happened on September 27th. A Jefferson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop and Lawrence was the passenger and threw out a glass smoking pipe that was used with methamphetamine. The driver was Christopher Lawerence who was also under the influence, as well as was in possession of prescription drugs that weren’t his. Christopher was sentenced earlier this year to four years of probation and two days in the Greene County Jail for pleading guilty to a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and a serious misdemeanor for an OWI.
Audrie was also ordered to pay over $1,800 in fines, surcharges, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. As per the plea agreement, her aggravated misdemeanor for her third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana was dismissed.
