US Congressman Zach Nunn

The US House recently passed a bipartisan bill that puts stipulations on a social media app aimed at removing one country’s control.

Iowa’s Third Congressional District Representative Zach Nunn supported the bill that would effectively ban TikTok in the US if the parent company, ByteDance, which Nunn says is a subsidiary of the Communist Party of China, doesn’t separate itself from the Chinese government. Nunn tells Raccoon Valley Radio during some of his time in military service, he was a counterintelligence officer and saw firsthand how China used disinformation in Taiwan to try to make their people rise up against their government. 

“The very fact that we are seeing TikTok use similar tactics right here on US soil to try and manipulate people into keeping Communist China involved in TikTok is very, very concerning.” 

The bill is now in the Senate for consideration.
