Tomorrow looks to be a lot of fun at the Vets Auditorium in Panora with a fundraiser to benefit an organization from Perry.

Perry Apocalypse Girls 14 and Under Softball Head Coach Nathan Brokaw says that the team got started because there aren’t many, if any 14U teams in the area without going into Des Moines, and he and others wanted to give young ladies a chance to play. He shares that athletes on the team come from many small towns in the area, including Yale, Panora, Ogden and Perry, so they like to refer to themselves as the Small Town Apocalypse.

Brokaw explains that Vets Auditorium was chosen as the place for the Carnival Party fundraiser because the location fit their needs the best, and was fairly central for the families involved with their team. He adds that there will be carnival games like ring toss and bags, a pitching speed contest with boys and girls age divisions, a bracelet making booth and slushy machine. Brokaw says that they will also be serving pizza and hot dogs from generous donors, and holding both a silent and live auction, and a list of some of the prizes can be found in this story online.

Brokaw says that the team has worked very hard to make this event fun and successful, and he’s looking forward to seeing all the people who come to enjoy the party. All proceeds from the event go back to the team to cover jerseys, equipment and tournament fees.
