Tomorrow is the first in a set of three events that the Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be hosting at the Stuart Public Library.

Program Director Meghan McBride says that with all the programs that the Extension offers for the youth of the county, there haven’t been as many programs for older individuals. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio she was able to find the “Stay Independent: A Healthy Aging Series” to get started with.

“I have been wanting to get out more adult programs. I thought that with the healthy aging series, there’s a lot of people that might just be curious about that topic. I thought we picked out a pretty well rounded few sessions to go over with the Thriving in Place, Planning Ahead and Avoiding Fraud.”

McBride mentions that tomorrow’s theme, “Thriving in Place,” where individuals will discuss their priorities as they age, assess their current environment and explore home modifications to help aging in place be a safe and comfortable experience. She adds that if individuals are interested in attending, they need to contact the Stuart Public Library.
