We continue our review of the AC/GC Chargers boys and girls basketball teams statistics for the 2023-24 season.
For the girls, freshman Nora Langgaard played in eight games, collecting a rebound and a steal, and gaining valuable experience in some varsity play time. Senior Macy Schreck played in 12 of the team’s games, suffering an injury over winter break that kept her out of play until Senior Night. She scored on 5 of 26 shots from the field for a field goal percentage of 19.2% and went 50% from the charity stripe. Schreck also collected 6 offensive and 8 defensive rebounds for a total of 14, 2 assists, 10 steals, 3 blocks and 11 points.
For the boys, sophomore Blaize Dorsey played in 5 of the team’s games, going 50% from the charity stripe and collecting 1 steal. Junior Payton Policky was once the team’s 6th man last year, but proved an invaluable starter on the block this year. He started all 23 of the team’s games, making 94 of 208 shots from the floor for a field goal percentage of 45.2%, 13 of 57 shots from beyond the arch for a 3 point percentage of 22.8% and an effective field goal percentage of 48.3%, and made 40 of 50 shots from the charity stripe for a free throw percentage of 80%.
Policky also recorded 86 offensive rebounds and 134 defensive for a total of 220, 27 assists, 31 steals, 3 blocks and 241 points. He also set the school record for rebounds in a season and in a game, with 220 and 23 respectively, and was selected as a West Central Activities Conference Honorable Mention with the 3rd most rebounds in the conference.
