The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The consent agenda, including a payroll change notice for Caleb Wulf as a jailer after completing the probationary period was approved 4-1, with Supervisor Brian Johnson as the lone vote. The Board then heard from Breanna Mink during the public comment period, as she had concerns from talks in the previous meeting for budgeting, with talks of budget cuts being made in what she said were the two most important departments, Public Health and Public Safety (Sheriff’s Office).
The Board also approved to close White Pole Road between Dexter and Stuart for the Bonnie and Clyde Fun Run. With 2024 being the 90th anniversary of Bonnie and Clyde being killed as they fled from a robbery, the Stuart Revitalization Committee wanted to honor the duo’s victims, and the race includes a new bike ride. The Board approved naming Midwest Partnership Executive Director Brenda Dudley to the Enterprise Zone Board, and then held a budget work session with Public Health and the Sheriff’s Office to see where cuts could be made to try and have a balanced budget for the next fiscal year. They also approved moving forward with the Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council’s Request for Proposal (RFP) should the Guthrie County Attorney and Guthrie County’s insurance agent approve the wording of the RFP.
