Greene County senior Nathan Behne has added another honor to an already distinction filled high school career. Behne is one of 25 Iowa high school boys’ basketball players named to the 2024 Northwest Bank Boys Academic All-State Basketball team. The team was selected by an Iowa Basketball Coaches Association panel from more than 135 nominations. The 25 honorees average a 26.5 ACT composite, 16.9 points per game and a 4.00 grade point average on a 4.00 scale. Behne was a starter for the 2-20 Rams and averaged nearly nine points and six rebounds a game.

Behne has accumulated numerous athletic and academic honors at Greene County High. Twice an All-State kicker in football, he will kick for the South team at the 2024 Iowa Shrine Football All-Star game on July 20 inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. He is a starter on the Rams’ soccer team, which played in State tournaments his freshmen and junior seasons. He qualified for a Class 3A District golf tournament in 2023, and he’s added a third Spring sport, track & field, to an already busy schedule. All this after having reconstructive leg ligament surgery during basketball season his junior year of high school.

Nathan is the son of Carl and Allison Behne of Jefferson.
