We continue our review of the AC/GC Chargers boys and girls basketball teams statistics for the 2023-24 season.
For the girls team, senior Emerson Van Meter started in all 22 of the team’s games, shooting 36.5% from the field making 42 of 115 shots, 40.5% from beyond the arch, making 32 of 79 shots, and recording an effective field goal percentage of 50.4%. She also made 13/24 free throws to go 54.2% from the charity stripe, and recorded 18 offensive rebounds and 43 defensive for 61 overall, 36 assists, 62 steals, 1 block and 129 points.
Van Meter also joined the Top Ten Steals Leaders list for AC/GC, collecting 97 throughout her career, and set the school record for 3 point percentage in a career (with at least 80 attempts) at 36.42% making 59 of 162 shots in her four years, and also set the record for 3 point percentage in a season (with at least 40 attempts) at 40.5%m, making 32 of 79 shots this season.
For the boys team, junior Jathan South started in all 23 of the team’s games, going 45.1% from the field, making 134 out of 297 shots, 31.9% on three pointers, making 45 of 141 from beyond the arch, giving him an effective field goal percentage of 52.7%, and recorded a free throw percentage of 73.7%, making 42 of 57 shots from the charity stripe. He also recorded 20 offensive rebounds and 71 defensive for 91 overall, 62 assists, 40 steals, 17 blocks, and scored 355 points. South also tied the school record for field goals made in a game with 14, and tied the school record for blocks in a game with 4.
