Greene County Activities Director Dave Wright is looking for a lot of participation in Spring sports for grades 9-12. Track & field practices have been going on for the last 10 days and Coach Chad Morton’s boys’ team has more than 40 out, while Coach Derek Merk’s girls’ squad numbers are in the low 30’s.

Soccer and golf practice doesn’t officially get underway until March 11, but early indications are more than 30 boys going out for soccer and over 20 girls. The girls’ numbers at Greene County have been low in recent seasons, so Wright is hoping enough girls go out and stay out that the Rams can field both JV and varsity teams.

That’s the same hope Coach Heath Telleen has for girls’ golf. There were times the Rams weren’t able to field a full varsity team, but the outlook is better with close to a dozen girls indicating they’ll go out for golf. The boys’ golf numbers have been strong for quite a few years, and Coach Kyle Kinne anticipates more of the same this season.
