The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) recently recognized Eddie Diaz, of Perry.

Diaz serves as the Director of the DMACC Perry Vankirk Career Academy, and according to Perry Schools, he was presented with the DMACC Distinguished Service Award on Wednesday. Diaz tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he was surprised to be nominated, but expresses his gratitude for the community.

“Well I’m extremely appreciative of the people that nominated me. They had some very kind words to say and outlined some of the things that I’ve been able to do in the last few years in my job, and I’m appreciative of their kind words and support. I’m also very appreciative of having the opportunity to have the job that I do that makes me be able to help communities that we serve.”

Diaz became the Director of VanKirk Career Academy in 2018, and also is a member of the Perry School Board.
