This weekend is the spring musical at Greene County High School.
“Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim is the story of several different fairy tale characters that venture into the woods looking for their wishes to be granted. Then real life hits each character and their actions have consequences. Junior Danielle Madsen plays the baker’s wife, who is a strong woman and takes on challenges head on. Madsen describes what she’s enjoyed the most about the musical.
“I think the most enjoyable parts for me is kind of learning new things. Not only with how to act and how to perform, but also learning with others, and just bonding with my friends, especially the dancing, I love the dancing, it’s really fun.”
Senior Ava Schilling talks about having the opportunity to do another musical and with this performance being her last of her high school career.
“I enjoy participating in musicals because there’s more people surrounding it, they’re our friends, the people who we hang out with all the time. But you also get to have experiences with the pit, you get good choreography, you’ve got a great show that we’re doing and putting on. But grappling with the fact that this is my last one, it is pretty sad, but I’m glad it’s like a good one and I have this group of kids to share it with.”
The performances are Friday and Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm at the high school auditorium. Online tickets are now available for $12 per person and you can click on the QR code below.
