The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.
The Board approved a liquor license for Shootout Saloon, LLC and a claim by the Conservation Department regarding the new side-by-side four-wheeler they were purchasing from Hicklin Powersports, LLC. Supervisor Mike Dickson inquired about the sales tax, but Conservation Director Brad Halterman shared that the sales tax needed to be paid for non-factory pieces added to the equipment by the dealership.
The Board also heard an update from Mark Laughery and Jotham Arber on the progress made by the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. They shared that moving forward, their suggestion was a Request for Proposal (RFP), and to set the tax for funding for the proposed system at $0.75 per 1,000 per capita, which should bring in roughly $750,000. Laughery and Arber reminded the Board that this was just a starting block, and could be changed and reworked as questions or suggestions arose from the services already in Guthrie County and the Supervisors. The Board put the RFP on the agenda for next Tuesday, to have time to go through it more thoroughly.
The Board then approved the final plan for Immel Minor Subdivision, and gave consent for the Spragues to move forward on the subdivision they were looking to develop as long as their plans followed County guidelines. They also approved implementing a strategic plan with help from Region XII Council of Governments and having the Guthrie County Sheriff attend to go over courthouse security. Auditor Dani Fink discussed the budget deadline and setting hearings for a tax levy decision and the budget. The Board then set the property tax hearing for April 1st at 7pm for the 2025 fiscal year budget. It would then be discussed at the regular meeting the next day to set the hearing for the budget hearing, which would be April 16th at the earliest.
