Several Greene County FFA’ers are traveling to this Saturday’s district contest.
One of the FFA members that was first place and earned a gold award at the sub-district competition this past January and advanced to the district contest was sophomore Leah McCormick in public speaking. She talks about her reaction to getting first place at sub-districts and now competing at districts on her topic of an animal confinement operations bill that was passed into law in California.
“It was pretty exciting and emotionally rewarding experience to know that there’s something that I care about that I can share with other people that they must care about. It’s good to know that people want to hear what you have to say, especially when you love talking so much.”
Seventh grader Rylan Hostetler and eighth grader Makenzie Wahl are going to compete in “experience the action“ and Hostetler explains what that category is and what they are doing for it.
“Which is basically a recruitment (skit). We’re doing Jeopardy with a bunch of FFA questions to showcase the amazing opportunities FFA has. And at some point get members to join FFA.”
The district contest will take place Saturday at Clarinda High School.
