The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball team season comes to an end after a tough battle with Bondurant-Farrar Monday night in Waukee.

The Tigers and Bluejays went down to the wire for the Class 3A Substate 8 Final game, which was played at a neutral site at Waukee High School. Bondurant-Farrar jumped out to a 4-0 lead before ADM tied it at seven then took their first lead at 10-7. The first quarter saw ADM lead 14-11. The Tigers would open up a seven point advantage in the second quarter and held a 33-28 lead at the half. The third quarter was a difference maker as the Tigers didn’t score in the first half of the quarter, scoring only 10, however still leading 43-41 going into the fourth. An early three by Junior Hudson McConnell gave the Bluejays a 44-43 lead. Senior Tanner Berggren had a big buckets down the stretch and led 56-52 with 20 seconds left. A big three point response from ADM’s Senior Adam Bryte clawed the Tigers back within one. The Tigers had one more attempt down three, but the Bluejays didn’t let ADM get off a shot, fouling Bryte, who made the first free throw, then intentionally missed the second and the ball ricocheted off several players, but ultimately the time ran out on the Tigers season.

Bondurant-Farrar defeated ADM by a score of 60-58 to secure a spot in the State Tournament next week. The Bluejays were led by Berggren’s 25, followed by Junior Cole Miller, who racked up 20, and McConnell’s 11. For ADM, Bryte had 15, Senior Rhylan Stine-Smith finished with 14, and Sophomore Hudson Lorensen tallied 13. ADM was stellar from the free throw line, shooting 17 of 18, while Bondurant-Farrar finished 11 of 17, converting on their final seven after going 2 of 7 in the first half.

Bondurant-Farrar punches their ticket to the state tournament, while ADM’s season comes to a bitter end. The Tigers will graduate five seniors; Trevor Brancheau, Tyler Gelhaar, Grant Rychnovsky, Rhylan Stine-Smith, and Adam Bryte.

ADM concludes the season at 20-4 overall (14-2 Raccoon River Conference), while Bondurant-Farrar improves to 15-9 overall (10-7 RRC).
