The Perry Fine Arts will start the month of March with a classic Disney story.

Beauty and the Beast is coming to the Performing Arts Center this Friday. Perry Fine Arts describes that the story will follow a curse on a vain Prince that would transform him into a beast. With the help of Belle and supporting characters, the Beast will attempt to break the curse through a change in his heart.

Chairwoman of Perry Fine Arts Cathy Clark mentions that the performance will be performed by Metro Iowa, an educational division of the Des Moines Metro Opera and will be free admission with donations being accepted. Clark hints at an event happening prior to Beauty and the Beast, specifically for the third graders.

“Sid the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing and he’s a circus snake. He’d like to do more than just slither around the cage, he wants to sing. The children will be entertained with that and learn a little bit about opera.”

That show will begin at 10am on Friday and is exclusively geared towards third graders. For more information about these programs, call Cathy Clark at (515)-681-6184.
