Dallas Center-Grimes boys basketball will be back in action tonight in 4A Substate 7 semifinal action, with the Mustangs to take on Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln in an intriguing matchup. DCG comes in with a 18-3 record and Lincoln counters at 16-6.
DCG was able to secure a first round bye while Lincoln was able to cruise in their first round matchup over Sioux City West 72-28. Leading by 10 at halftime, CBAL was able to outscore the visitors 24-0 in a decisive third quarter.
These two teams met in the postseason last year with DCG winning on the road 57-54. Trailing by six going into the 4th quarter, DCG was able to stun the hosts, outscoring them 20-11 in the 4th quarter for a major win. Jonathan Howard and Calix Cahill were both able to score in double digits in the win.
The game is projected to be fast paced with both teams averaging more than 65 points per game. DCG will have to excel defending the three point line, where the Lynx shoot at a 39.1 percent clip.
The winner of this game will play the winner of Southeast Polk/Waukee on Tuesday at a site to be determined.
