A Dana man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court from an ongoing investigation with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court documents, 50-year-old Joseph Burchfield pled guilty to two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana, without habitual offender. He had two five year prison sentences suspended and was placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. 

Burchfield was the third suspect in a drug bust by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Following a tip, the sheriff’s office started investigating on July 12, 2023 about methamphetamine being manufactured at Burchfield’s home in Dana. Court documents show that the methamphetamine was then taken to Jefferson to be sold to other individuals. Two search warrants were executed to the residences of Eric Rosenow and Roger Burnie. Both Rosenow and Burnie previously pled guilty to their charges and were each sentenced to three years of probation.20

Burchfield was additionally ordered to pay over $1,300 in fines, surcharges, probation fees, and court costs. As per the plea agreement, a felony charge for intent to deliver less than 50 kilograms of marijuana and an aggravated misdemeanor for maintaining drug house, vehicle, etc. was dismissed.
