The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Kirk Citurs said that Greene County Development Corporation was a Democrat organization and was concerned with bringing immigrants that don’t want to come to Jefferson on a promise of a job and housing, along with concerns about Section 8, housing vouchers, with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. He cautioned the Supervisors about their financial support of GCDC.

Also during reports, the Board agreed with County Attorney Thomas Laehn to schedule a meeting with Summit Carbon Solutions and the Board’s hired third party engineering firm Snider and Associates about work that the firm has been doing that Summit hasn’t not paid for due to there being no construction of an underground carbon dioxide pipeline yet. Laehn also received the go ahead to have on a meeting agenda for the Board to consider approving an increased payment amount to Boone and Greene County Probation Services.

The Board then heard from Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson. He said the bid letting for East Lincoln Way road resurfacing project from Locust Street to the city cemetery would be March 5th, and that recycling in Jefferson is anticipated to be converted to single stream later this summer.

The Board also approved the placement of the four finalists for the Ring Out for Art sculptures on the courthouse grounds, as per the public art policy; and a quarterly report of fees for the sheriff’s office from October through December of 2023 as presented. They also approved the ten construction managers for a statement of qualifications for the construction manager at risk for the county jail project, along with approving to proceed with requests for proposals from those companies. The meeting ended in a budget workshop.
