Early Saturday morning the Stuart Police Department were involved in a high speed chase.
At approximately 12:30am a marked Stuart Police vehicle initiated a traffic stop on 105th Street, as they came upon a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle did not stop despite the officer engaging their lights and siren, and a pursuit began. At approximately 12:33am, the officer terminated the pursuit due to the reckless driving of the operator of the vehicle, as they traveled at high speeds, drove without headlights and failed to stop at stop signs.
At approximately 1:06am, the officer came across the same vehicle in a wooded area, and four juveniles were detained, and later released to the custody of their parents/guardians. At this time charges are pending, and due to the age of the individuals, no names are being released at this time. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Stuart Police Department in this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
