The Panorama boys wrestling team traveled to Ogden for the Class 1A Substate 8 district tournament and had two Panthers place 1st and 2nd sending them to the Wells Fargo Arena for the State Wrestling Tournament.

Cayden Van Meer placed 2nd and scored 19.5 team points. Van Meer beat Mickael Manzer of East Sac County by technical fall, then beat Hayden Stickrod of South Central Calhoun by fall in 55 seconds. Van Meer would lose to Creighton Kelly of West Hancock by decision 5-0 in the first place match, but won by fall in 59 seconds against Sam Rotert of Kuemper Catholic to receive 2nd place at 175.

At 285, Joel Cooper beat all his opponents by fall to receive 1st place and 24 team points. In the quarterfinals, Cooper beat Walker Hull of Ogden by fall in 2:22, then beat Mitchell Smith of West Hancock by fall at the 5 minute mark. In the 1st place match, Cooper beat Angel Barajas of Alta/Auerlia by fall in 2:27 seconds.

The Panther boys placed 5th in the district tournament as a team and will be sending Joel Cooper, who placed 1st at 285 and Cayden Van Meer who placed 2nd at 175 to the state tournament at the Wells Fargo Arena. The Iowa Boys State Wrestling Tournament starts on Wednesday, February 14th.
