The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Tigers Basketball team finished the regular season on an exciting note, thanks to a wild three pointer by Sophomore Madelyn Roundcount at the buzzer.
Last night was another battle between the Tigers of Carroll and ADM, and it did not disappoint! Carroll started fast as they raced out to an 11-3 first quarter, but ADM’s defense picked up in the second, only allowing four points, while scoring 12 themselves to notch things up at 15 by the halftime break. The third quarter saw Carroll take the lead back as the offense started flowing again, as they took a 31-26 advantage to the fourth. The final couple of minutes were filled with lots of fireworks as every time ADM closed in on Carroll, a big bucket was hit to keep them at bay. However, two three pointers from Senior Aubrey Winter pulled ADM within two (42-40) with 27 seconds left. A free throw from Carroll made it 43-40 with 15 seconds remaining. Then Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn attempted a three, which felt just short and ADM was forced to foul Junior Olivia Rowedder as seven seconds were up on the clock. Rowedder needed one free throw to make it a two possession game, but missed both, leaving the door open for ADM, and they capitalized as the ball ended up in the hands of Roundcount, who put up the game-tying in the left corner, touching every part of the rim before finally deciding to drop in at the buzzer to tie it at 43 to take it into overtime!
Listen to the exciting final moments that led up to overtime!
ADM used that momentum in OT to get Kelli Storck an early basketball to give them the 45-43 lead, and a free throw from Roundcount made it 46-43 with under two minutes. Carroll’s offense stalled but Junior Katelyn Aden captured two free throws to pull within one (46-45), then Storck converted on one of her two free throw attempts to make it 47-45, then an open layup was missed from Carroll’s Freshman Chloe Kock, which would’ve tied the game. After that, time ran out and ADM, who trailed most of the game, won an exciting overtime game at home to wrap up the regular season.
ADM was led by Roundcount’s 15, followed by Storck’s 10, Senior Aubrey Winter had nine (9), and Hagedorn racked seven (7). on Carroll’s side, they were led by Junior Katelyn Aden with 11, Ali and Chloe Kock finished with nine (9) a piece and Rowedder tallied seven (7).
