Community Health Administrator Abigail Chihak runs through the vaccines that the Dallas County Health Department offers.

There are two programs that can help people access vaccines, according to Chihak. Those are the Vaccines for Children Program (VCP) and a Health Navigation Program. For the children program, Chihak says that any eligible child can receive any of their childhood vaccines at no cost at their clinic. She speaks about the requirements to participate in this program.

“To participate in the VCP Program, children must be 18 and younger, either medicaid enrolled, have insurance but it doesn’t cover vaccines, be uninsured or identify as American Indian or Alaska(n) Native.”

As far as the Health Navigation Program is concerned, Chihak explains that this is for anyone who would like to be set up with a health care provider or get connected with health insurance. She underlines the role of a Healthcare Provider.

“Our navigators can help you find that healthcare home to support you and any of your healthcare decision making.”

To schedule an appointment for either program, call the Dallas County Health Department at (515)-993-3750.
