The McCreary Community Building in Perry now has a Child Watch Program open for parents/guardians to drop off kids as they use the exercise facility.

The McCreary Building opens the program Mondays through Thursdays from 4-8pm for children six weeks to 8-years-old. Assistant Recreation Director Becky Halling says the purpose of the room is to entertain children as parents/guardians are exercising. Kids are presented with age-appropriate toys to play with, whether it’s puzzles, books, or even the Nintendo Wii System for the older children. Halling does emphasize that parents/guardians must stay in the building.

“A big thing we want people and parents to realize is that they cannot leave the building when they are here. They have to be present and accounted for. If their child needs to go to the bathroom, or needs to eat depending on how old they are, we are not doing those functions, we are just here to just entertain their child in a program.”

Halling mentions that there is a $5 entry fee and a time limit of an hour and a half for all children. She details that there is no registration required and encourages parents/guardians to drop off their child at the McCreary Building from 4-8pm Monday through Thursday.
