The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tiger Boys are looking to rebound after taking only their second loss on Tuesday in Winterset, with a home game tonight against the Carroll Tigers.
ADM did play two consecutive games earlier this week in Ballard and Winterset. The Tiger boys came into Monday’s game in Ballard as winners of their last 15 with the hopes of keeping it going, which they did. ADM scorched out the gates to race out to a 19-9 advantage after the first quarter. The Tigers scored 22 more in the second, holding Ballard to 12, as a 41-21 halftime lead was in their favor. Third quarter was an offensive showcase for both the Bombers and Tigers, but at the end of three, it was 57-35 ADM. Much of the bench would play in the fourth as ADM strolled to a 67-41 victory.
ADM had four players in double figures, being led by Senior Rhylan Stine-Smith’s 16, Senior Adam Bryte finished with 14, Sophomore Hudson Shull tallied 13, and it was Sophomore Hudson Lorensen with 11. The win stretched the winning streak out to 16.
The Tigers would then play a follow-up game on Tuesday in Winterset, taking on the rival Huskies. The first matchup in Adel saw an offensive explosion as ADM won 80-60. The fireworks continued Tuesday night in Winterset following a hot start from the Tigers, who led 20-11, but then would be hit by a 9-0 run, including a buzzer beater three by Junior Hank Wilmes that would tie the game at 20. The game rocked back and forth in the second quarter and Winterset led 37-36 at the break. The third quarter was the difference as the Huskies outscored the Tigers 23-16 to lead by their biggest margin of eight (8). The offense was flowing for Winterset as they would roll on to an 80-70 win, snapping ADM’s 16-game winning streak.
It’s important to note that ADM was missing their starting Sophomore Shooting Guard Hudson Shull, for an undisclosed reason. Adam Bryte charged through with 20 points, with Stine-Smith and Lorensen capturing 15 a piece, and Senior Grant Rychnovsky finishing with 11.
ADM only saw its second loss of the season as they fall to 16-2 overall (14-1 Raccoon Valley Conference). The January 29th matchup vs. the Carroll Tigers witnessed ADM win a tight 66-59 contest, as Carroll is currently 10-9 overall (7-7 RVC). The game tonight will be in Adel at approximately 7:30pm and we’ll have the coverage on K1079 and the KKRF Mobile App.
